Carrie Fogle
-Board President
I have served on the board of directors for nearly 14 years and have been involved with the NEMO Humane Society since 1997 when I completed an internship at the age of 20. While I enjoy all aspects of animal rescue, I have a special place in my heart for the SNAP (spay and neuter assistance) program which fuels my drive and love of fundraising. One of the most rewarding projects that I have accomplished was implementing "smiles on a leash". This was a program that involved weekly trips to many local facilities (nursing homes, schools etc.) where my AKC therapy-certified Doberman, named King, provided comfort to those we visited. We also spent time educating on dog bite prevention, as well as responsible pet ownership. My love for all animals began as a young child growing up on a farm. I discovered that all too often animals need a strong voice to advocate for them. This sparked a life-long mission to improve the lives of all animals in the highest capacity that I possibly can.

Growing up with cats and dogs, you develop a compassion for the unwanted, lost, and mistreated. I am honored to be a part of this.
Janet Groenda
- Board Secretary
Growing up, my family always had pets mostly dogs and cats. I can remember my dad rescuing a kitten from under a delivery truck in Hannibal and bringing it home and taking care of it. Since we lived on a gravel road we were always taking in the stray cats and dogs wandered to our home. I am on this board due to my love of animals and wanting to take care of them and find them their forever home. Currently, my husband and I have four “fur babies” – Heidi, Remmy, Moolah and Daisy that we adopted from the humane society, and I can’t imagine not having a pet in our home.

I have a strong passion for the welfare of our most vulnerable population. Animals love us unconditionally and they deserve the best from humans.

My passion is advocating for children and animals...those without a voice. I enjoy being a part of helping animals find second chances and happy endings. I believe that animals should have the basic things that we as humans desire... a warm place to sleep, a full tummy, and a loving family.
Jonna Coons
-Treasurer
I have always had a passion for animals- taking in as many strays as possible when I was younger. The three cats I currently have are strays !
I am a huge advocate for spay and neuter - especially cats - since one momma cat can turn into five and those five turn into 25 within a year or less.
I adopted our dog from the shelter and love the care and affection our animals receive everyday.
I love being part of an organization that truly puts the care of the animals first, whether providing temporary care until the right home is found for a pet to having great programs available to the public such as SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) and Free vaccination clinics!
